We're entering the final stages of rapidway construction, and the reality of a new and improved Yonge Street in Richmond Hill is feeling much closer. It's an exciting time watching the transformation take place as the project is in the last year of major construction, with the rapidway scheduled to open by the end of this year!
What you can expect to see for the remainder of this year:
Vivastations:
Crews continue with vivastation platform construction at the seven vivastation locations at Bantry/Scott, 16th/Carrville, Weldrick, Major Mackenzie, Elgin Mills, Bernard and 19th/Gamble.
Boulevards:
Pouring concrete for paver base, installing new concrete sidewalks, planter boxes and paver stones.
Final Paving:
Final paving of the traffic lanes on Yonge and paving the red asphalt in the rapidway lanes and intersections [typically overnight].
While crews are working to open the rapidway by the end of 2020, some finishing work such as tree planting, as well as warranty and deficiency work, will continue into 2021.

While it hasn’t been business as usual over the past few months, York Region has entered into the Province’s Stage 3 framework and businesses in the construction corridor need your support.
Now more than ever, we’d like to thank all the people who continue to support the neighbourhood shops and businesses along Yonge Street in Richmond Hill during rapidway construction. The way we all do business may have changed in recent times, but not their commitment to helping you. ShopYonge!
